New Knights Take to the Battlegrounds

Pittsburgh, PA (January 3, 2020) – The Pittsburgh Knights are excited to share their new Smite roster for the 2020 Season. Ronald “Belair” Belair, Steven “Zapman” Zapas, Paul “Paul” Berger, Neil “Neilmah” Mah, and Anders “Qvofred” Korsbo, will be leading the charge, along with coach Joshua “El Chuckles” Bruce.

2020 marks the 7th season of the SMITE Pro League, which is played on LAN at HiRez Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The game, which is currently one of the most popular MOBA-style video games on the market, has over 30 million registered users world wide.

The Knights made their debut in the Smite Pro League last season, taking 5th place at the Smite World Championship held at Dreamhack Atlanta in November. This new Knights roster, with the exception of Qvofred, most recently represented SK Gaming and actually took home the grand prize of $500,000 in Atlanta.

“We’re extremely happy to have landed the world champions from this past Smite World Championship,” says Knights’ esports consultant, Garett Bambrough. “It was not the fact that they won that sold me, it was the way they did it,” he explains. “Coming from the placement rounds to earn a spot at the championship, they showed resilience and composure with their long championship run. That kind of toughness is only exhibited by select individuals, and, with the addition of Qvofred, we certainly have a team full of them”.

The players are equally happy to be working with the Knights. “I’m excited to play under an organization that is as passionate about gaming as I am,” says Neilmah. “The Pittsburgh Knights really care about SMITE and their players, which made our choice this year a no brainer. This is the start of something special, and I’m excited to be a part of it.” Teammate Paul echoes this sentiment, saying, “PK has been widely known to be one of the best organizations in Smite. It’s an honor to be playing for them.”

SPL Season 7 begins on March 14th and will be broadcast on Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, and Steam. More detailed scheduling information will be available closer to the start of the season.
